Unilateral Transverse Leukonychia in a Patient Receiving Isotretinoin Treatment with Concomitant Renal Impairment: A Case Report

Aims: Leukonychia is a white discoloration of nails. Although it usually clinically insignificant, can serve as clue for systemic diseases that sometimes life-threatening. Case Report: A 24-year-old male patient, with resistant acne vulgaris not responding to topicals nor antibiotics and history renal impairment untreated recurrent high blood pressure readings, was started on isotretinoin. Three months later, he presented unilateral true transverse leukonychia worsening impairment. The patient antihypertensive medications. seen two later fading (moving distally). Results: Repeated laboratory tests showed slightly increased serum creatinine, improved but still protein/creatinine ratio. while continuing isotretinoin treatment after starting medication has protective effect may indicate renal-associated leukonychia. Conclusion: This probably the first reported without identified local/unilateral causes.
